Frequently Asked Questions

What Distinguishes Your Practice From Others?
Our practice is built on the premise that life centers around relationships--at home, at work, in our families--everywhere. We seek to help people discover and build relationships, to sustain and nurture healthy relationships, and to heal painful or broken relationships.

We offer unique programs like HealingForUs for chronically ill persons and their families, parent coaching for divorced or separated couples, and educational and coaching programs for both singles and couples.

We also offer services to businesses, executives, attorneys, and other professionals, drawing on our core strength as relationship coaches and therapists experienced in the legal and business world.

How Much Does Coaching Or Counseling Cost?
Costs vary depending on the service provided, the length of service, and which member of the staff is providing the service.

Do You Provide Services Outside the Greater Washington, D.C. Area?
Yes!. We serve clients anywhere in the world. All of our services are available either in person or by telephone. We are also willing to travel to your area to speak to your group or offer a workshop.

Are Services Covered by Medical Insurance?
Coaching services are usually not covered by medical insurance. Counseling and psychotherapy services may be covered by your insurance provider. Bethesda-Chevy Chase Counseling & Consulting will provide you with a statement with the required information to submit to your insurer. Counseling and coaching services may be reimbursable as well from your pre-tax medical savings account or cafeteria benefits plan at work.

What Services Do You Provide to Gay, Lesbian, and Bi-Sexual Persons?
All of our regular counseling, educational, and coaching services are available to gay, lesbian, transgender, and bi-sexual clients. In addition, we will tailor any of our programs to the needs of GLTB clients, e.g., a Conscious Dating course solely for GLTB clients.

Do You Make House Calls?
In fact, we do, when appropriate or necessary. Carol Sprang, who is both a psychiatric nurse and a counselor, has special expertise in working with persons in their own homes, particularly victims of chronic illness. For more information go to healingforus.com

Why Do You Use Imago Therapy?
Simple. Because it works. In contrast to any other form of couples work we know, Imago works by giving couples and individuals real tools with which to work. Imago changes people’s lives.

What If Only One Partner Wants Counseling?
Ideally both partners will seek counseling to heal a painful or moribund relationship. However, we recognize that sometimes only one partner is willing to seek help for a troubled relationship. Consequently, we have created a program called “Invitation to the Dance of Intimacy--One Can Tango!” to provide Imago-based therapy and support for the partner willing to work on the relationship alone.
